What Are Trivia Tuesdays?

Sponsored by the Westhill Educational Foundation, the Trivia Tuesdays series an 8-part monthly trivia series taking place after school in the library. It involves teams that consist of one staff member and up to four students. The team that wins each month will receive a prize, and the team with the most points at the end of the school year will earn a grand prize. All participants will enjoy light refreshments each week and the last event will have a pizza party.

This initiative addresses the need identified in a staff survey for non-academic opportunities to connect, presenting teachers and school staff as approachable mentors outside the classroom. By participating in trivia teams alongside staff, students cultivate teamwork, mutual support, and appreciation for diverse perspectives, fostering a sense of belonging and school spirit. Moreover, the events promote social-emotional learning by enhancing competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and communication skills. Trivia challenges also stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, encouraging students to approach questions analytically and creatively. Ultimately, Trivia Tuesdays contribute to a dynamic and supportive school environment, nurturing holistic student development through interactive learning experiences.

FAQs

When are the Trivia Tuesdays events?

Trivia Tuesdays events take place on the last Tuesday of the month from October - May during the Instructional Assistance period, with the exception of the month of December during which the event will take place on the last Tuesday of the month that school is in session.

When should teams register?

All teams must register at least 24 hours in advance of the first event they attend using the provided Google Form (2:20 p.m. the day before). The last day to register for the 24-25 school year is April 28, 2025; teams cannot register only for the final trivia event of the year. Once a team has registered for one event, they are automatically enrolled in all future events.

Who can be on a team?

Each team must consist of one staff member and up to 4 WHS students. There cannot be more than 4 students and 1 staff member on a team. This helps keep the teams balanced and fair, and it ensures that there are enough prizes for everyone. 

How can I earn a prize?

Only team members in attendance are eligible to earn prizes.

Each month, members of that month's winning team will earn prizes. The team that has the most points at the end of the school year will earn a grand prize.
